As the founder of the Canadian division and a fourth-generation member of the Yuan Yin Group (established in 1920 with the mission of connecting people through music), Dr. Feihong Nan has led over 300 performers and volunteers annually in organizing more than 40 workshops and concerts to support the community. These initiatives include the ‘Youth Leader for Music and Health Program’ and the annual fundraising concert, featuring the guzheng and qin—traditional Chinese instruments, with the qin recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage and boasting a history of 3,000 years.
Feihong’s performances have attracted a distinguished array of Canadian musicians. She was invited to record Guzheng (Chinese zither) and Qin music for the album Asia Beauty, composed and produced by Ron Korb, which was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2016 for Best New Age Album. Feihong is also the recipient of the Heritage Legacy Award from Heritage Mississauga, recognizing her contributions to uniting generations in a shared purpose. In 2023, she was invited to adjudicate Chinese instruments at the National Capital Region Music Festival in Ottawa, and in 2024, she received the Senator Victor Oh Legacy Award. She is currently serving as a board director for the Toronto Kiwanis Music Festival.
