Piano: Community (non-competitive)
Piano Community Class Descriptions
Community classes are non-competitive and offer participants an educational experience without the pressure to compete. Participants may choose repertoire from any genre in Community classes. Participants are given verbal and written feedback and participate in a workshop with the adjudicator. Everyone will be given a Participant's Ribbon, but performances will not be assigned a mark or class placement.
Age Levels Participants must enter the age level based on their age as of January 1st, 2026. Available age levels are Children: Ages 10 & Under, Youth: Ages 11-14, Teen: Ages 15-19.
*Participants ages 20 years old and above may enter in the Adult Amateur category. Community ensembles must register in the Piano Ensembles category (non-competitive options available).
Solo Classes Participants must perform one (1) selection.
Recital Classes Participants must perform two (2) contrasting selections.
Piano Rules & Regulations
Participants should consult the General Rules & Regulations prior to registering for classes.
Sheet Music Participants must provide the adjudicator with a legally purchased copy of the music for all selections (a purchase receipt or IMSLP listing must be presented for digital copies), even when the piece is being performed by memory. Refer to section 7.14 of the Rules, Regulations & Guidelines for more information about Copyright.
Memorization is not required for Community classes.
Multi-movement Selections One (1) Selection may consist of multiple movements. Participants may perform one (1) or two (2) movements where applicable in Community classes.
Time Limit Total performance time must not exceed twenty (20) minutes in total for any class.
